Ancient-Echoes-Meditation-Music

The idea of listening to music while meditating is very common. This probably goes back to more then just relaxing. Typically the idea of listening to music would be completely out of the question. I don’t know of any Buddhist lineage that allows any music to accompany them. This is a very modern spin on meditation, but its a very good one. Listening to the right kind of music can really boost your experience and give you a different overall perspective.

The Fujara is over five feet long, a flageolet style fipple flute. It is the deep-bass folk flute of Slovak shepherds. This instrument is hand made from wood of the upland deciduous trees. It is best described as a solo overtone flute in bass position. The Fujara has only three fingering vents, and the height of tone is decided by the strength of in-blown air.

This beautiful instrument is cherished in the secluded Slovakian mountains. The flute has been preserved over centuries, and kept as simple as it was in the beginning. This instrument uniquely combines a natural, and easy to learn playing technique while projecting the perfect melody.

Overtone Flutes Make Great Meditaion Music

Ancient-Echoes-FLute

The overtone flute is a type of flute designed to play the upper harmonics, usually above two or three harmonics. That being the most practical limits of woodwind instruments. Overtone flute tubes have a relatively long resonating chamber, this encourages the instrument to resonate with higher harmonics. This makes the instruments more difficult to play, or very quiet when trying to play in the first harmonic.

Some examples of an overtone flute are:

Kalyuka- The Russian and Ukrainian flute
Tylynka- The Ukrainian/Hutsul and Romanian flute
Willow flute- The Scandinavian flute
Fujara- The Slovakian flute
Koncovka- Another Slovakian flute

These instruments all have the same thing in common, they are all overtone flutes. They play in higher harmonics compared to others. They are often used to create beautifully toned music used for mediation or relaxing.

Is Meditation Music A Good Idea?

Posted by on 2:07 pm in Meditation Music, Relaxing Music | 0 comments

Meditating is getting bigger and bigger, people now understand the benefits and are joining in! The newest thing to do while meditating is listening to music. I bet your wondering, “Why music?” Well a very interesting fact is that sound is easily absorbed by your mind. So when you play a calm toned sound while meditating, your mind absorbs it and creates a picture of the same calmness. This helps our mind focus on the music rather then something else.

Any music is suitable for meditating, but it is up to you to choose the proper music for your session. The music will help determine your mindset. If you are truly interested in working your mind through meditation you should choose your music carefully. This means you must train yourself mindfully, and learn to to feel the vibration of the music carrying you. Each song has something new to offer, and will take your mind to a new place. This will deepen your experience and send you down the road to healing.

The Tambin come in several different keys from E, up to Bb. However, the most common found ones are; F, F#, G, Ab and A. They make a complete diatonic scale, starting from the lowest note of the second register ( the 3rd of the scale) and finally going up to the sixth register of the scale. These flutes are usually constructed from a conical vine found in the forests of Guinea, the largest end is on the side of the embouchure, and tapers down to where the finger holes are. The bore of this flute can vary from 5/8″ to one inch.

The Recorder Plays Meditation Music

Ancient-Echoes-recorder

The recorder is a very well known and popular part of the woodwind musical instruments, in a group known as fipple flutes or the internal duct flutes. These whistle like instruments include the tin whistle. The recorder is an end-blown, the mouth of the instrument is constricted with a wooden plug, known as a block or fipple. It is told apart from the other flutes of the family by having seven finger holes.

The bore of this instrument can be tapered slightly, its widest piece is at the mouth piece and narrows toward the foot on Baroque recorders. Most Renaissance-era instruments also taper, but generally have a more cylindrical bore. These instruments can be made out of wood plastic or ivory. The tone of this flute makes it perfect for meditation music. Music is a gift to your inner being that will soothe your soul.

Meditation Music With The Irish Flute

The Irish flute is a very simple system, transverse flute that plays diatonic (Major) scale as the tone holes are successfully covered and uncovered. Many flutes from the classic era, and some of the modern day flutes include metal keys and other tone holes to achieve complete and partial chromatic tonality. Do to this flutes wooden construction, direct key less fingering, the simple system flute has a distinctly different timbre from the Western concert flute. Most Irish flute players strive for a dark and reedy tone. Even though the flute is commonly played in the key of D, simple system flutes are always available pitched in other keys.

They are often heard in Irish music pitched in E flat, C flat and B. This is a non transposing instrument, if you cover C, a concert-like pitch is played. This flute has six main holes. All wooden flutes have a cylindrical bore in the head and a conical bore in their body. The bore is commonly largest at the heads end, and tapers down to a smaller bore at the foot. This gives the effect of shortening the flute for a given pitch. This is a great flute for any player that takes an interest. Flute music is a beautiful and harmonious thing.

Relaxing Music With The German Flute

Posted by on 10:28 am in Relaxing Music | 0 comments

There were numerous places of flute making in Germany, and various types of the well known simple stem flute. For example, a Freyer flute and a Piering flute are very similar in design. With these similar looks and playing qualities, the flutes are almost identical. Both instruments were made around the same time period.

(Piering)

The two flutes each have eight keys with their G# key located in the lower center. Finger placement along with other dimensions are almost identical. The Piering is later than the Freyer, this can be determined by the shape of the keys. The Piering is slightly brighter and louder in tone. The keys on the Piering have a more modern style to them making it smoother and less ornate. Each instrument has a sound of its own.

Relaxing music can be created with any instrument you have in mind. Sitting back in a chair and turning on some relaxing music is a gift for yourself.

Discovering The Native American Flute

Posted by on 12:14 pm in Meditation Music, Native American Flute, Relaxing Music | 0 comments

Music has always played a big part in the lives of Native American people. One of their most prominent instruments is the flute. The earliest found flute was in the fifteen hundreds.

It is believed to have first originated from the Southeast and Southwest of the United States. No artifacts have ever been found in the Southeast but plenty were found in the Southwest. A Native flute was typically made of bone and other perishable materials . The flute was widely used among many Native American tribes for different tribal and meditation ceremonies. It was also used in prayer rituals, healing rituals and even courting rituals.

Each one was made by the player out of bamboo, bone, or clay. They needed their own dimensions, which was usually determined by the length from their elbow to their fingertips. There are still many flutes made by the Natives today.
